Everything you wanted to know about carpet cleaning... but were afraid to ask! 

Not everyone is comfortable talking about carpet cleaning - it can be a very "dirty" subject.  The following are a few of the most common asked questions regarding carpet cleaning.  Read through them and see if you don't feel differently about the subject when you are done.

• Why do I need a Professional carpet cleaner?  Do you think I can't work a vacuum?  No, we didn't say that.  With normal vacuuming though, a cleaning solution isn't used and most vacuums aren't powerful enough to suck up all the yucky stuff deep down in your carpet.  Trust us, you've got yucky stuff.  Gross, germy, bacteria-like creatures... right in your home.  (and no we aren't talking about your family)  We are talking about the micro-organisms filing for residency in your carpeting.  They are so small that they escape through the filter in most vacuums and are released back into the air.

• Can't I just rent one of those shampoo things and do it myself?  Of course!  We know you're the kind of person who can do anything once you put your mind to it.  But face it, there are times when picking up your dry cleaning requires too much effort.  Do you really want to deal with dragging one of those heavy shampoo things through every room in your house, risking damage to your floors and furniture?  It won't save you that much money.  Besides, our truck mounted system is much more powerful and our cleaning agents are non-residual. The product that we use is  soapless, odorless, colorless, has a low pH and does not hard the environment. There's no sticky residue left behind to attract more of those micro-organisms that love your carpet.  Our equipment won't leave your carpet soaking wet and it cleans deep down into the carpet.  Did you know that the shampoo that you purchase when you rent a carpet cleaning machine comes with optical brightners?  They put this in the shampoo to make your carpet look cleaner and brighter. Unfortunately all it does is attract the dirt and your carpets will look dingy in a short time. 

• Who exactly are these micro-organisms, where did they come from and why aren't they paying rent?  It's like this:  Your carpet absorbs particles like dust, dead skin (yeah it's gross, but it is YOUR skin), hair, food crumbs, and other unidentifiable tidbits that make your nose wrinkle up in disgust.  Consider these particles the munchies - your carpet the party site, and guess who's coming to dinner?  Bacteria, mold, and dust mites. As long as you're providing the goodies, those party animals are going to stay and they aren't exactly likeable guys.  These micro-organisms can aggravate allergies, and in some cases, cause illness.  Simply walking across your carpet sends millions of them into the air for you to inhale.  Not exactly appetizing... and certainly not very good for you.  As for collecting the rent... you're on your own.

• How do I know when my carpet needs cleaning?  If you see mushrooms sprouting out from the carpet, it may be time.  However, carpet manufacturers recommend cleaning your carpet every 6 to 18 months (check your warranty).  If you have kids or your family suffers from allergies, you may want to clean more often.  Because while children are wondrous beings with a special gift of bringing joy into your life, they also bring with them something else - crud.  Kid crud.  Crud like you've never seen before.  Crud that can weaken fibers and shorten your carpet's life.  Believe us, it's easier (and more socially acceptable) to get rid of the crud.
• So when exactly can you clean my carpet?  I am not taking off from work for this!  You don't have to. Varney Clean Care is flexible and we don't require you to be at home while we clean.  And should an emergency situation arise, such as damage from a fire or flood,  there's no need to wait.  In most cases we provide emergency services 24 hours a day.

• Is there an ideal time of year to clean my carpet?  Yes.  Spring, summer, fall, and winter.  Spring cleanings reduce the dust and pollen in your carpet.  This is a good thing.   If you have allergies, this is a great thing.  Unpleasant odors caused by bacteria thriving on summer-time heat and humidity can also be eliminated by having your carpet professionally cleaned and disinfected.  Back-to-school time makes for another perfect cleaning opportunity (we know you live for them).  Finally, you can get rid of the sand, grass fertilizer, ice cream stains - and the kids!  A clean house is yours again... at least until 3 o'clock.  Come winter, you're tracking salt and mud all over your carpet.  You clean it off your car... don't you think your carpet would appreciate the same courtesy?  Any holiday is also  a prime time for cleaning.  Chances are good that you'll have the family over.  It's enough you have to listen to their opinions on your marital status, career and friends.  At least they'll have nice things to say about your clean carpet.

• Just how long does it take for you guys to clean my carpet?  Typically a home can be cleaned in 1 - 3 hours (depending on how much we will be cleaning).  That's with super powerful equipment cleaning each room, plus the time it takes to move furniture - should you request our Platinum package. Factor in extra time to work on stubborn spots.  O.K. so your couch equals x... divide by Pi... and carry the 5... that equals a²+b²=c² ...or... No time at all to clean... and no extra charge for the T.L.C. 

• How long does it take for my carpeting to dry?  It depends on the carpet type and amount of pile, the time of year, the level of humidity, and just how much dirt is in your carpet - because the dirtier your carpet, the more water and cleaning solutions we'll need to use.  Our equipment gets out 95% to 98% of the water though, so it's not like you're going to hear any squishy noises when you walk across the carpet. 

• What will happen if I walk on the carpeting before it's completely dry?  Your feet will get wet.  However, with every job we provide you will the most fashionable of accessories... plastic booties, just for that reason.

• Can you make my place look as though there aren't eight cats living here?  Sure, get rid of the cats and your problem will be solved.  Joking!  Just joking!!  We at Varney Clean Care know how to remove all kinds of pet tracks and odors.  Stubborn stains are not a problem, thanks to our staff.  Plus, we can get rid of much of the pet hair, thus cutting down on that lint brush action.  However, we cannot guarantee complete removal of pet urine due to the fact that it usually gets down into the pad and floor below the pad.

• Do you clean anything else besides carpeting?  We sure do.  We clean upholstery, air ducts, as well as area and Oriental rugs.  Our cleaning method is the one preferred and recommended most often by the National Institute of Carpet Cleaning.  (Isn't it good to know that rugs, carpets, and chairs have someone looking after their best interests?)

• So do those extra treatments do anything or are you just out for more of my money?  Ouch.  That was brutal.  We're just hard workers, looking to make an honest buck.  We have kids to feed, too, you know!  But that doesn't answer your question... this will:

                      3M Brand Scotchguard - protects carpet and upholstery. (imagine what happens to a tissue after you pour water on it... if you spray that same tissue with scotchguard,               ......................the water will form droplets on top of the tissue - kind of like water resistant.)

                      Deodorizer treatment - come on, it's self-explanatory!

                      Anti-Microbial Treatment - kills odor-causing bacteria and mildew.
